You’re never too old to ‘shake it off’

A group of NZ retirement village residents – average age 82 – has found instant fame after releasing their own version of Taylor Swift’s ‘Shake It Off’ music video on YouTube.

The fifty residents of the Julia Wallace Retirement Village in Palmerston North spent a week learning the words and moves to recreate the song which has now been viewed over half a million times.

The clip, which took five days to film, matches Swift’s video almost shot-for-shot, right down to the props and costumes which were designed and sewn by one of the residents.

It isn’t the first time the village has gone viral either. Last year, they made a nude calendar for charity and in 2014, their sister village in Christchurch did a rendition of Pharrell Williams’ ‘Happy’ that achieved over 4.5 million views.

Watch here and see if you can resist singing along too.
