This is no joke. The hardware giant is building a huge $90 million two-storey store in Doncaster, Victoria – complete with an Accor hotel offering a sausage sizzle in its breakfast buffet.
The $70 million six-storey hotel will sit on top of the store and offer 183 rooms, a restaurant and bar, alfresco dining space, sundeck, fitness centre, rooftop pool, and a function room with an outdoor terrace.
Seems like an odd move to us, but Bunnings says it’s exactly what the local council was looking to build in the family-friendly suburb.
“We are always looking at opportunities to innovate the design of our stores and we have a number of different formats that cater for the local markets where we operate,” acting general manager property Garry James said.
“There’s no cookie cutter approach – we always assess the local need and what can be achieved in a space.”
We’re guessing the locals need tools and access to the mini bar.
