The owner of the family-run Bada Bing Cafe in Woodlands (pictured) has been charged after a mum said she and her two young children were served a dessert containing cannabis.
After the family ate there in March this year, mum Sharon got worried (understandably!) when her five-year-old daughter started to describe things as “jumping” and her vision became impaired, while her three-year-old son got very drowsy.
The family went to hospital, and soon Sharon began having similar symptoms. All three tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), a main component of cannabis.
The children’s dad sneakily went back to the café the next day to buy another sample brownie for testing – which was taken away by police and found positive for THC.
Bada Bing’s owner has since been charged with two offences under the Food Act 2008 and could face fines of up to $240,000. The matter will be heard at the Perth Magistrates Court on 19 July.
Perhaps not such a family-friendly café after all…
