A recent study titled the ‘Roo Report’ (yes, really) from YouGov and Huddle Insurance found that more than 7,000 Aussie drivers are involved with collisions with kangaroos every year – and are spending millions in excess on insurance claims.
The survey was based on information from 1,054 drivers from April this year, finding the average cost in ‘roo damage’ for one vehicle came to a massive $4,000 – with 15 per cent of cars involved with kangaroo accidents ending up completely written off.
But it turns out it’s not the money we’re worried about.
The study results showed that while 79 per cent of all respondents said they were either “concerned” or “very concerned” about hitting a roo, almost half (48 per cent) said their biggest worry was the safety of the animal itself, instead of their car.
It turns out Aussies are extremely protective of our national symbol!
