Watch this video – you could save a life

World Suicide Prevention Day is September 10 and this year, the Movember Foundation has created a powerful campaign to confront the silent epidemic of suicide among men.

Titled ‘Suicide notes talk too late’, the video has a simple message – “Men, let’s talk when things get tough” – to encourage us to reach out and take action sooner rather than later.

Fronted by men sharing their own experiences of suicide, the clip highlights the importance of prevention in saving a life.

Men, it’s time to talk

“We wanted to create a powerful piece of content that would ignite important conversation about suicide, the complex issues that surround it and what everyone can do to address it,” Owen Sharp, the Foundation’s CEO said.

In Australia, 75% of suicides are men – it is the leading cause of death for men aged under 44 and as we highlighted here recently, men over 85 have the highest suicide rate of any age group.

It’s not easy to watch, which is exactly why you should. See the video here.

The Foundation is also asking people to share the video on social media using the hashtags #WSPD, #WSPD16 and #movember.

Why not start a conversation now?
