Yes, really. A property in the WA town of Esperance has gone on the market with its own full-sized replica of Stonehenge.
Semi-retired farmers Kim and Jillian Beale built it on their 87ha farm in 2011 along with an award-winning residence, gift shop and around 400 cattle which has attracted 16,000 visitors annually.
Built using 1,200 cubic metres of Desert Brown granite, the WA version stands seven metres high and weighs 58 tonnes – so it’s actually bigger than the original, which is believed to have been constructed from 3000BC to 2000BC in Wiltshire, England and stands around four metres high, 2.1 metres wide and weighs in at about 25 tonnes.
However, it turns out it’s not unique outside of the UK – there are reportedly 66 replicas across the world.
But if you fancy a bit of your own Stonehenge, the Esperance version is on the market for $2.1 million.
A rock-solid bargain?
