If you’ve ever been on a bad date (so many), at least you can comfort yourself that you weren’t on this first date from hell.
The unnamed woman had picked up Christopher Castillo from his parent’s home in Rhode Island and driven him 30 minutes east towards Massachusetts on 5 December 2016.
The two had never met before that day – and while Castillo had chugged some wine in her passenger seat (actually illegal), the woman later told the court she wasn’t concerned when he asked her to pull over when they approached a bank.
After going inside however, he emerged a few minutes later sweating with sunglasses, a hat, a gun and $1,000 cash in hand and told her to put her foot on the pedal.
Unsurprisingly, the woman “panicked” and did as she was told, but when she saw flashing sirens from the police on their tail, she pulled over and walked away from the car, leaving the officers to “violently struggle” with the would-be bank robber as they took him out of the car.
CNN reports that Castillo has now pled guilty to armed robbery and three counts of assault and battery on a police officer – and been sentenced to five years in prison.
The woman wasn’t charged – we’re guessing the “worst date ever” was enough punishment.
