The conversations of life

Turns out your home really is ‘your castle’ for many Australians

National Australia Bank’s (NAB) latest quarterly wellbeing report (pictured below) found that the family home is the single-most important factor in determining Australians’ overall sense of wellbeing – more so than personal safety or relationships.

Interestingly, while your home is key to a greater sense of wellbeing, the process of selling, buying or finding the right home is shown to have a negative effect on how Australians feel about their lives (minus five per cent, to be exact).

So, what does this mean for older Australians looking to downsize?

Whether you are looking for a sea change, tree change or to just move down the street, it’s worth shopping around getting right before settling on the one that’s right for you.

If you’re not sure where to start, you can search for retirement villages, land lease communities and apartments at villages.com.au.
