The UK’s next Brexit crisis? A shortage of Cadbury Crème Eggs

0

It’s true. The maker of the popular Easter chocolate is stocking up on its ingredients ahead of the country’s exit from the European Union. Why?

Chief executive officer Dirk van de Put says that should the split come without a trade deal – a “hard Brexit” – they are anticipating “chaos at the borders and a shortage of key goods”, which could put some of its beloved choccies – including Crunchies, Toblerone and of course the crème-filled eggs – under threat.

It’s not the only import in danger if Britain can’t reach an agreement before the March 29 deadline.

Last month, the Government published notices outlining how the lack of a deal could impact British life including higher credit card fees, fewer medicines – and a major sperm shortage.

Apparently, the UK imports a lot from the US and other EU countries such as Denmark and new agreements would need to be signed before imports could resume.

Better get on it then – without babies or chocolate, we’d say the British are up s*** creek.
