If ever there was a sign that a city was under a COVID-19 lockdown, this is it.
North Shore Police Area Command in Chatswood, 10km north of Sydney’s CBD, was informed a house in Artarmon had been broken into. Greater Sydney is about to enter the third week of a lockdown due to its first outbreak of the Delta variant of COVID-19.
Officers were told that a storage cage, which contained valuable camping equipment, had been broken into at the affluent suburb, where the median house price is $2.6 million.
Apart from a snowboard, the only thing missing was the toilet rolls that had been stored – 40 rolls.
North Shore Police Area Command posted a meme (photo above) about the incident of Facebook on Tuesday afternoon.
Social media users found the funny side of the toilet roll theft, which have run out of supermarkets.
“Police are attempting to get to the bottom of this,” one man wrote on Facebook.
“What’s the correlation between the snowboard and the toilet paper? Skid marks?” a woman wrote.
As of yesterday, there are 40 COVID-19 cases admitted to hospital, with 11 people in intensive care, three of whom require ventilation.
