Aged care workers have had a difficult year, to say the very least, and today’s the day we acknowledge the hard yards they’ve been putting in.
Leading Aged Services Australia’s (LASA) Aged Care Employee Day has led the call for operators, residents and families to honour the workers and volunteers in Australia.
Providers have been encouraged to share these stories with the hashtag #thanksforcaring and we’ve seen some great examples of this across social media.
NSW-based provider Whiddon sent out 6,000 blocks of chocolate to 3,000 team members as a sweet gift to say thank you for their efforts!
Melbourne-based Fronditha Care also got in on the action, creating a web page to highlight the efforts of some of the provider’s quiet achievers during the pandemic.
“I am beyond thankful to our brave staff who have become warriors against this invisible enemy. They truly are heroes,” said Fronditha Care CEO Michael Malakonas.
Cooinda Benalla Aged Care in Victoria shared a great snap of their workers.

And Bolton Clarke’s Chelsea Retirement Village in Queensland used the day to celebrate Village Manager Shelley, who’s been with the organisation for 20 years.

Lastly, we say another great example from the team at Hakea Grove Aged Care on the NSW Central Coast, who shared this fun photo of their hard-working staff!

“We are lucky to have an amazing lifestyle team at Hakea Grove. They are so dedicated to providing our residents with an abundance of activities and they also have a lot of fun along the way! From the whole Hakea Grove community, we say thank you,” the centre wrote in their post.
If there’s one thing the pandemic has shown us, it’s the importance of aged care workers, so we say thank you to everyone out there working!
