Tell ‘em they’re ‘creaming’: outback cooks campaign to bring back Devondale long-life cream

It’s a true ‘Aussie battler’ tale. The UHT cream, known for its fantastic power to be whipped into firm peaks, had been taken off the supermarket shelves last year after dairy giant Murray Goulburn closed three of its factories.

But the decision was met with a sour response from passionate cream fans, particularly those living in rural and remote areas, with dozens of angry comments left on the Devondale Facebook page.

An open letter to Devondale posted by outback blogger Danielle Doyle even went viral, reaching over 350,000 people.

But there is good news for the long-life lovers, the ABC reports.

Long-life dairy producer Freedom Foods says it will now roll out a new range of whipping UHT cream later this year that could fill the gap.

Let’s just hope it’s as good as the Devondale one.

Having grown up in the country, I can tell you those CWA scones are just not the same without cream.
