Support services now available for Australia’s unpaid carers

0

Caring for someone isn’t always an easy task, so it was encouraging to see the Government announce a range of support services for Australia’s 2.65 million unpaid carers this week.

The Australia-wide network of Carer Gateway service providers are providing access to:

  • In person and phone-based counselling
  • In person and online peer support
  • Targeted, financial support packages
  • Practical educational resources to improve carer wellbeing

These services are free for anyone looking after a friend or family member who has a disability, medical condition, mental health condition or is frail due to age.

To access these services, you can call Carer Gateway on 1800 422 737 or visit the Carer Gateway website here.

Caring for someone is the epitome of selflessness, but it’s just as important to remember to take care of yourself.
