The Older Persons Advocacy Network (OPAN) has entered a partnership with the taxpayer-funded ABC, to try to help older people remain at home and be connected with and supported in their community.
Called “Stay Connected”, the initiative has three goals: staying connected at home; staying connected within the community and staying supported at home.
“Feeling lonely and being isolated should not be a normal part of ageing. Connection to other people, from across the generations, provides security, support, happiness and a sense of purpose,” said OPAN.
OPAN is working with the TV program, ‘Old People’s Home for 4 Year Olds’, and details the government and community provided services available.

You can, of course, support and stay connected with isolated older Australians through volunteering, or see if you can help your local aged care facility, or connect with groups working to helping older people.
