No, really. It was one of 95,000 unnecessary emergency calls made last year in the state that have prompted Ambulances Victoria to launch a campaign aimed at reducing the strain on emergency services.
“Some examples include people calling because they can’t get to sleep, to very minor health conditions such as they cut their finger or they haven’t passed wind for 24 hours,” Health Minister Jill Hennessy said.
She’s advising people to call their GP or use Victoria’s Nurse on call system for “minor issues”.
Of course we should call triple 000 if we genuinely need an ambulance, but otherwise – save it for a real emergency.
