Snakes on a plane! Queensland python hitchhikes to Scotland – in a woman’s shoe

Confirmation of overseas tourists’ worst fears about Australia? Moira Boxall from Glasgow found the spotted python while she was unpacking from her flight home.

The sneaky reptile travelled 15,000 kilometres from Mackay to Glasgow totally undetected by airport security.

When she found the snake, Moira thought her daughter (who she was visiting in QLD) had played a prank on her with a plastic toy.

Seeing it was actually real, she called the Scottish RSPCA who took the snake into quarantine with a Glasgow zoo now being considered for a new home.

Lucky for Moira, spotted pythons aren’t deadly – but we doubt she’ll be jumping on a plane back to Australia any time soon.
