South Australia’s coastal tourist town of Robe has a new attraction – an enormous sinkhole roughly 12 metres in diameter – that can suck you into the Southern Ocean.
“A large new hole has appeared adjacent to the blow hole, creating Robe’s new Woe Hole,” said the District Council of Robe on Facebook.
“This hole has formed overnight after a collapse. Waves are actively scouring the area beneath the hole and it is still collapsing.”
The Council warned people on its popular coastal track not to wander off and take a look at the sinkhole.
“The blowhole hasn’t blown for a number of years, but the energy of the waves have eroded further in and that’s where we’ve had this collapse,” said Robe District Council CEO James Holyman.
