Retirement communities find creative ways to keep residents connected

0

One of the big challenges facing retirement communities around the world amid the pandemic has been keeping the spirits of residents up.

But by and large village operators have been responding.

Willow Valley Village in the US is a great example.

COVID-19 had originally put the kibosh on visits to the village’s health care unit.

But rather than be deterred, the staff were inspired to create the ‘Connections Cottage’.

In it, residents are separated from visitors by a window panel, but they can still see and speak to each other in a comfortable, climate-controlled environment.

“The pandemic really highlighted why living in a retirement community is an excellent choice for many people,” says Adam Marles from US organisation LeadingAge PA.

A great initiative!
