Queensland Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk has unwittingly stoked the old NSW-QLD rivalry after a post on her social media page promoting Gold Coast tourism used an image of an iconic beach in NSW.
The snap of Duranbah Beach, south of the border in Tweed Heads, managed to get by the 30-person (yes 30-person) media team who are in charge of promoting Ms Palaszczuk’s image.
The post took the gloss off a $1 million Play Money Reward campaign, which hands out vouchers to Gold Coast residents to go towards supporting local tourism, was only removed when the State’s main newspaper, the Courier-Mail, pointed out the embarrassing blunder to the Premier’s office.
Ms Palaszczuk is not the first politician to get caught out on social media, with many of her fellows also being stung.
In 2019, California Senator Eric Swalwell claimed he flew the LGBTQ pride flag “365 days a year.” Note the creases.
Perhaps time to hire some mature workers?
