We’ve all been there – it’s late evening, we’re starving, and we could really go for a serve of hot chips.
But not all of us would likely go to such extremes as one 24-year-old man in East Perth, who stopped by a fish and chip shop at around 9pm last Friday and ordered some hot chips, only to be told the kitchen was closed – at which point, according to WA police, he allegedly “showed the staff he was carrying knives and threatened to kill staff if the chips were not cooked for him”.
Police were called while staff were cooking the chips, and he was arrested for threatening to kill, being armed in a way that may cause fear, and failing to comply with a request to give police personal details.
The man faced Perth Magistrates Court over the weekend. On the plus side, he’s not facing any charges for armed robbery – because, according to police, he did at least leave cash on the counter to pay for his order.
