It’s the eye-watering asking price for a stay at the world’s most remote hotel, the luxury White Desert camp in the centre of Antarctica.

The camp, which caters for 12 guests at a time is only open from November to December, costs around $95,000 for an 11-night stay or $65,000 for the shorter, eight-night break.

What do you get for your money?

Camping goes glam

The unique hotel, which has recently undergone a five-star makeover to mark its tenth anniversary, is made up of six heated, fibreglass domes called “sleeping pods” on a strip of land between a frozen lake and walls of ice.

The three-course meals are prepared by an in-house chef from food and wine flown in from Cape Town.

And of course, there’s the chance to spend time in one of the world’s most spectacular places, taking in the sights and wildlife.

But if your travel budget doesn’t stretch quite that far, there is another way you can visit the camp. Watch this video here.
