An unknown Aussie has pulled a sneaky prank on the One Nation leader, snapping up the paulinehanson.com.au domain after discovering it had become available in late 2020.
Meme page, Brown Cardigan, posted a screenshot to social media on January 15 from someone claiming he had purchased the domain and redirected it to the Refugee Council of Australia.
The organisation, which helps refugees and asylum seekers in need, has been an outspoken critic of Senator Hanson for some time.
Despite the name of the domain, it had never been used as a political site by Senator Hanson – who is famously anti-immigration – her political website is located at senatorhanson.com.au.
Instead, the domain was used to promote a real estate advertising website before expiring and being snapped up by the mystery user.
For their part, the Refugee Council says they had no involvement in the cheeky change – and assume it’s a joke.
“However, we welcome the off-chance that Senator Hanson has changed her mind on refugee policy,” their spokesperson said.
