Located on Kildare Road in Blacktown CBD, the 149 bed facility offers a range of comfortable rooms and incorporates a specialist memory support unit complete with a landscaped sensory garden for residents with dementia. Blacktown is a thriving city, with a growing population.
It is critical that there are adequate services to meet the current and future needs for aged care in the local community as Blacktown’s population is expected to grow by 200,000 by 2036 with 30,000 of these residents being over the age of 70.
At the opening ceremony for Opal Blacktown on 8th November, The Hon. Ed Husic MP, commented on the significant benefit Opal’s investment in aged care would bring to the local area.
Opal’s CEO, Rachel Argaman told those present that “Opal is committed to providing affordable, high quality aged care to the people of Western Sydney. Opal Blacktown is part of Opals’ $300 million investment in the region. The home provided 150 jobs during construction and will also deliver a further 180 jobs to the local area on an ongoing basis.
While Opal Blacktown is an impressive, state-of-the-art building, this is not what makes it special. What is truly important are the people who live and work here and give the building a beating heart that makes it a warm and caring place to call home.”
According to Opal Blacktown General Manager, Nghia Bui, the home offers residents more choice in care, services and lifestyle activities helping them to remain as independent as possible whilst living a fulfilled and dignified life.
