Only in America: Waddle you know – Wrinkle sets duck world record in NY marathon

Competitors in the Long Island Marathon in New York on 7 May were greeted by some unusual quacking noises at the start of the kids 1K marathon (1km).

The mystery entrant turned out to be Wrinkle the Duck (yes, really), who had previously made an appearance at the 2021 New York Marathon.

The bird outpaced the competition, smashing the world duck record (which doesn’t officially exist) by coming home in 18 minutes and eight seconds, even receiving a medal for her sterling efforts.

A video was uploaded for her 601,000 followers on her own Instagram account seducktive, which shows the duck, number 332, waddling along with the young human participants.

When Wrinkle is close to the finishing line, she begins flapping her wings as the crowd cheers her on as she completes the race.

What next? A race purely for the rest of the barnyard?
