The US President’s handling of the COVID-19 crisis has been at times curious, at other times horrifying, and if reports are to be believed, this isn’t going to change any time soon.
Trump’s new adviser for all thing COVID-19 is Scott Atlas, a senior fellow at Stanford University’s conservative Hoover Institution.
Atlas gained notoriety in an appearance on Fox News, where he endorsed a Sweden-style approach to tackling the virus.
And no, this doesn’t involve meatballs and eccentric furniture.
While most countries surrounding instituted some form of lockdown, Sweden went for broke trying to achieve “herd immunity”.
The strategy did little to stop the economic damage of the virus, and most experts judge it to be a failure.
But not Atlas, who is now – without a background in epidemiology – the President’s right hand man.
Scary times, particularly if you, or someone you know, live in the US.
