Only in America: Trump reportedly wants to be carved into Mt Rushmore

Mt Rushmore is one of the first images that comes to mind when you think of the US, and if the President gets his way, the famous monument may soon be a little more crowded.

Reports suggest President Trump is eyeing his own spot on Mt Rushmore, to the point where he brought it up in a meeting with South Dakota governor Kristi Noem.

The story, citing an anonymous source, cites Noem’s first meeting in the oval office with Mr Trump.

“Do you know it’s my dream to have my face on Mount Rushmore?” the President reportedly said.

“I started laughing,” Noem added.

“He wasn’t laughing, so he was totally serious.”

Trump later refuted the report on Twitter – in a way that makes you think he’s not necessarily opposed to the idea.

Even if he wants to, there actually isn’t space on the mountain for the current US President. It looks like there’s a little bit of room next to George Washington, but the rock surface is unstable.
