Only in America: Trump re-election campaign posts video of US President – as Marvel super-villain

With the House bringing two articles of impeachment against Donald Trump over his attempts to seek foreign interference to boost his political interest, his official ‘Trump War Room’ campaign has gone on the defensive in an unusual way.

The clip posted to its Twitter account shows the US President’s face super-imposed over the face of the fictional Marvel super-villain Thanos and the line: “House Democrats can push their sham impeachment all they want. President Trump’s re-election is inevitable.”

The quote is a reference to the Marvel movie ‘Avengers: Endgame’ where Thanos snaps his fingers and attempts to destroy many of the superheroes who have teamed up to defeat him.

The video then cuts to a number of Democratic leaders including the Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi instantly vanishing just like in the film.

But social media users pointed out that the scene happens right before Thanos realises he is about to be defeated – perhaps not the vision that Trump wants to portray.

It’s not the first time however that the President’s team’s attempts to ‘drop’ Trump into iconic pop culture moments – earlier this year, he Tweeted a picture of himself using the wall from TV series ‘Game of Thrones’ to suggest that his promised a wall between the US and Mexico was coming soon.

Commenters noted that this fictional wall was destroyed.

Perhaps Trump’s staff should make sure they watch the whole film or program – before they hit the Tweet button.
