The US president is reported to have asked his advisors whether they could ‘nuke’ the storms that are heading across the Atlantic towards the US.
The suggestion reportedly came during a hurricane briefing with senior Homeland Security and national security officials at the White House. However, experts from the US National Hurricane Centre said using bombs to disrupt the course of hurricanes was “not a good idea.”
Like a kid in a candy store, it’s sounds like Mr Trump got rather excited about the idea with a White House source paraphrasing the President,
“I got it. I got it. Why don’t we nuke them? When they start forming off the coast of Africa, as they’re moving across the Atlantic, we drop a bomb inside the eye of the hurricane and it disrupts it.”
The White House, of course, declined to comment on the President’s idea and there was no cause for alarm.
However, experts are reported to have warned that radioactive particles released by a nuclear bomb into a hurricane would move with the storm and have devastating environmental repercussions.
