Only in America: Trump administration to ban energy-efficient light bulbs

0

In another slight to saving the planet, the US government has announced it will prevent energy-efficient standards for light bulbs from going into effect in January 2020.

The National Resources Defence Council says using energy-efficient bulbs in the US – approximately six billion light sockets – could save US$14 billion by 2025.

More importantly, the initiative instigated by the previous Obama administration, could cut greenhouse gas emissions.

But not surprisingly, light bulb manufacturers, including General Electric, opposed the Obama-era rules, claiming that they affect consumer choice and hurt American jobs – and the Trump administration agreed.

Also, of no surprise, it’s not the first time they have rolled back regulations aimed at helping the environment – the Trump administration has also backed away from regulations on car fuel efficiency and methane emissions.

Given Trump’s record on crazy climate change tweets he’s at least consistent.
