Know a nurse or a midwife who goes above and beyond? Industry super fund HESTA is looking for the best in the country, with nominations now open for the 2022 Australian Nursing & Midwifery Awards.

The awards – which have been held annually for 16 years – look for Australia’s Nurse of the Year, Midwife of the Year and Outstanding Organisation. Employers, patients, and colleagues are encouraged to nominate nurses and midwives who have “demonstrated leadership, innovation and pursued excellence to deliver high-quality patient care”.

According to HESTA CEO Debby Blakey, nurses and midwives deserve recognition for their essential role in keeping Australians healthy, especially during COVID-19.

“Nurses and midwives have been so critical to our ongoing recovery from COVID-19. We wouldn’t be where we are today without them.

“The positive impact they have had, and will continue to have, on patients’ lives is humbling. HESTA is truly honoured to help recognise these wonderful and dedicated professionals and help share their stories,” she said.

Nominations can be submitted here until 6 February, with finalists to be announced on 12 April ahead of the planned awards ceremony in Melbourne on 19 May.
