This 1975 clip of the then-rising star taking on British talk show host Michael Parkinson unearthed this week should do the trick.
Mirren was appearing on the show to talk about her latest role as Lady Macbeth for the Royal Shakespeare Company. Instead, he hits her with a barrage of sexist questions about her “figure” and sex appeal – which she handles brilliantly as you will see.
As a sidenote: the 71-year-old actress appeared again on Parkinson’s show in 2006 and called him out for the ’75 interview, saying: “I thought you were a sexist person for mentioning my breasts, and also you wouldn’t actually say the word ‘breasts.”
Watch as she make him squirm in the original clip here.
Or see their latest re-match here – she pulls him up short at the 5:05 point. It’s great.
