Thought jetpacks were the stuff of science fiction? Think again.
An unidentified man has reportedly been spotted flying a jetpack in the vicinity of Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) this week.
This follows two similar sightings reported earlier in September – and apparently, it’s no joke.
The US Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) are taking all three incidents seriously, and confirmed they were performing an investigation in a statement provided to CNN.
“A China Airlines crew reported seeing what appeared to be someone in a jet pack at an approximate altitude of 6,000 feet, about seven miles northwest of Lost Angeles International Airport,” the FAA said.
The FBI is also reportedly investigating.
An audio recording of the conversation between the air traffic controller and the pilot on one of the September flights made the news after the controller had famously warned the pilot to, “use caution… person on a jetpack reported 300 yards south.”
After the pilot acknowledged the instructions, the controller said, “Only in LA”.
Our thoughts exactly!
