If you’re planning on taking your motorised esky to the shops, you’d best make sure your licence and rego are in order, or you might find it getting towed.
That’s what happened to a 25-year-old man in Kerang, northern Victoria, who ran afoul of the law when he was spotted driving his motorised esky on a footpath.
Swan Hill Police discovered the petrol-powered esky was not registered, and in addition, the owner had never held a valid driver’s licence.
“The vehicle was impounded for 30 days and the driver will receive a summons to appear in court at a later date to face charges of driving unlicensed and driving an unregistered motor vehicle.
“This motorised esky is considered a vehicle due to the size/engine capacity and must comply with legislative requirements and road rules,” they said.
Credit where it’s due, though: according to police, he did pass a breath test.
