The Aged Care Guild is urging Australians to sign a new petition asking the Federal Government to guarantee there will be no more cuts to aged care in the upcoming May 9 Budget.

The aged care sector has suffered a number of funding cuts in recent years – the latest to the Aged Care Funding Instrument (ACFI) in the 2016 Budget which slashed future funding to the sector by $1.2 billion.

Yet we face the challenge of an ageing population and the need to deliver 76,000 new beds by 2026, according to the Guild’s Cameron O’Reilly said.

“Further cuts would make a difficult situation much worse. The sector needs funding stability to ensure it can continue to provide the services elderly Australians need,” he said.

The ‘Protect Aussie Aged Care’ campaign lets you to send a letter to your local member. You can also hear from residents and aged care workers – the “frontline” of our aged care services – about the impact further funding cuts would have.
