Love is in the air at Gold Coast retirement village

Two residents at Aura’s The Pavilion North Kirra, Neddie Billett and Kerry Glendenning, have celebrated a fresh start by holding their wedding at the retirement village on 2 April.

The couple, who met two years ago, enjoyed a great day filled with 50 guests including their adult children and grandchildren. The ceremony and after party were held in the village’s function area – the first on-site wedding since The Pavilion North Kirra opened in November last year.

Neddie said she and Kerry were determined the day would be without any stress – just an occasion to create happy memories.

“I wore formal while Kerry decided to have a business look on the top and a party below wearing his red shorts,” she said.

“We were both widowed but feel so fortunate to have found love a second time around.

“The day was all about fun and even our vows were full of hilarious moments, including when the question was asked ‘where is the ring?’ It had been organised for someone to pop up and say ‘I’ve found it in the lift!’”

The lovebirds flew north to Port Douglas for their honeymoon.

Confirmation that life can take on a new meaning in retirement living.
