Does this look like a ‘manufactured’ retirement home to you?

It’s one of five new display homes at land lease operator Palm Lake Resort’s Toowoomba Pinnacle community that’s turning traditional views of ‘retirement’ homes on their head.

Check out the picture inset. It could be straight from the pages of a home decorating magazine – think raked ceilings, stone benchtops and European appliances.

They aren’t the only retirement living developer stepping up their offerings to cater to a new generation of retirees either.

Cranbrook Care recently opened their first retirement village in Sydney, Cranbrook Residences Bella Vista. Its 50 luxury apartments include features such as oak timber flooring, wool carpets, custom-designed kitchens and emergency response monitoring.

It makes sense. We baby boomers have grown up with all the comforts of modern living – and we’re not going to give them up when we decide to downsize.

So expect to see more developers tapping into this ‘luxury’ trend. It’s one that’s certainly paying off for Palm Lake. “We have now fully sold out the first stages and expect the next stage to sell out quickly,” CEO Manuel Lang tells us.
