Do you know around 660,000 Australian women are at higher risk of breast and ovarian cancer?

This week is Women’s Health Week so we thought we’d share this new online test that lets you find out your risk in just five minutes – no needles or tests involved.

Developed by Pink Hope and the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre, the Know Your Risk tool asks you a series of questions to estimate your risk including your age, height and weight, family history and contraceptive use – all based on clinical practice guidelines.

The tool also suggests next steps depending on what category of risk you are in – average, moderate or high.

Aussie women have a one in eight chance of developing breast cancer during their life – for ovarian cancer, it’s one in 81.

And as we covered here, the risk of cancer for women who carry the BRCA1 or BRCA2 gene mutations is lifelong – so it’s worth finding out what your risk is.

Pass it into your daughter, sister or friends too.
