Zip-lining directly into Godzilla’s mouth sounds like the stuff of most people’s nightmares.
But visitors at a Japanese amusement park will now be able to get a sense of what it feels like to be one of the monster’s meals, thanks to a new attraction unveiled this week.
The attraction, roughly translated as “Godzilla Interception Operation Awaji”, can be found at Nijigen no Mori theme park in Awaji, in the Hyogo Prefecture – and it’s not one for the faint of heart.
The structure is about 55 metres long, 25 metres wide and roughly 23 metres tall and for 3,800-yen ($38), visitors aged 12 and older can get the full Godzilla meal experience.
“As far as we know, this is the only life-size Godzilla statue ever built,” a spokesperson for the company operating the theme park told The BBC.
“We would like Godzilla fans, including those abroad, to come and appreciate the massiveness of the monster they only know of through movie screens.”
Godzilla aficionados will note the monster is actually supposed to be 120 metres long – but for all intents and purposes, we think this one is more than big enough!
