Japanese airport now offering bathroom for your pooch – complete with ‘pee pole’

Japan is known for its luxury loos with heated seating and endless flush and bidet features – even music to hide the sound of your ‘business’.

Now Osaka’s regional airport Itami has taken this one step further, setting up a toilet just for your furry friends.

Designed to encourage dogs to relieve themselves before domestic flights, the urinals are in a fenced-off yard outside the terminal and come full equipped with a shower, water bowls and a self-flushing ‘pee pole’ (what?!)

According to the airport, the pet-friendly toilet came at the request of both travellers and airline staff who had reported ‘mishaps’ with dogs on board their planes.

Airport officials say they hope the toilets will lead to “stress reduction” for both pets and owners.

We’re guessing it’s more about making sure your flight attendant isn’t left cleaning up the mess.
