It takes a village to raise a Guide Dog

0

The Cotswolds Retirement Village in the northern Sydney suburb of Turramurra has bid a bittersweet goodbye to a very special trainee.

Pearl, an aspiring Guide Dog, has been raised by staff member Wendy from the age of eight weeks, and this month returned to the Australian Guide Dogs Association to complete her training.

In a farewell post on social media, staff and residents bid a fond farewell to Pearl, who sat in the golf buggy every week and watched Wendy work.

“Our residents have enjoyed many a pat as they have walked past the golf buggy over the last year. The goal of raising a Guide Dog puppy is to nurture them so they become well-socialised, confident, and focused before they start their formal Guide Dog training.

“We can all agree that after all of Wendy’s hard work, Pearl is all those things,” the post read.

Best of luck, Pearl – and we’re sure everyone at The Cotswolds hopes you won’t be a stranger.
