After the Coalition Government’s re-election last Saturday, Immigration New Zealand (INZ) revealed that the number of people in Australia looking at its website on Sunday was more than ten times the amount on the previous weekend.
Meanwhile, Google Analytics also showed a big spike in Aussies searching the words “moving to New Zealand”.
Of course, as INZ has pointed out, this doesn’t necessarily mean that we’re about to see a mass migration over the pond – the stats would also include any foreign tourists living in Australia who were just scoping out their next holiday.
But it’s interesting timing – particularly considering our story from last week showing that Australians voted NZ PM Jacinda Ardern (pictured) their “most trusted politician” over any of our current party leaders.
Coincidence? Perhaps not…
