“He picked the wrong house”: 82-year-old US bodybuilder sends home intruder to hospital

Willie Murphy (pictured) had been getting ready for bed in her Rochester, New York home last week when the man pounded on her door, asking her to call an ambulance for him. She called police, but becoming angry, the man then broke through the door.

Unfortunately for him, the intruder didn’t know Ms Murphy is an award-winning bodybuilder who works out at her local YCMA almost daily.

“I’m old. But guess what, I’m tough,” she told news outlets. “He picked the wrong house to break into.”

Ms Murphy then proceeded to attack the man – starting with her own table.

“I took that table and I went to working on him,” she said. “And guess what? The table broke.”

Unperturbed, the bodybuilder continued to beat the man with the metal legs of the table – later revealed by police to be a stool – before squirting baby shampoo in his face and hitting him with a broom – by which point, he was unsurprisingly ready to leave.

However, while Ms Murphy – who took up powerlifting in her 70s – can deadlift over 100 kilos, she struggled to drag him out of the house – but police then arrived on the scene in response to her earlier call along with an ambulance.

“I had really did a number on that man, I’m serious,” she said. “I think he was happy when he went in the ambulance.”

Ms Murphy’s story has also unsurprisingly gone viral, with even the local police hailing her as ‘tough as nails’.

“The officers that came wanted to go on my front porch and take selfies with me,” she added.
