The conversations of life

Have you made plans for your pets after your death? RSPCA offers free rehoming service for NSW residents

Their Home Ever After program is designed to look after the pets of those who have passed away and find them a new ‘forever home’.

Anyone from NSW can enrol their pet – mainly cats and dogs but other animals can be considered on request – as long as they are micro-chipped, desexed and vaccinated.

Once your pet’s been accepted, simply let your family, friends and neighbours know that you would like RSPCA to take care of your pet if something should happen.

The Program will send you a magnet for your fridge and card for your wallet with all the necessary contact information.

Finding a new ‘forever home’

If you do pass away, all your friend, lawyer or relative needs to do is contact the Program and they will collect your pet and care for them until they are found a new home.

There’s no need to include a clause in your will or charge for the service – RSPCA NSW just asks participants to consider leaving a donation to them.

We think it’s a great idea. Pets are part of our family and the Program ensures peace of mind, especially for those who may not have friends or family to take care of their furry friends if they are incapacitated or pass away.

And because you record all your pet’s idiosyncrasies, likes and dislikes, you’ll know they’ll be placed in a new home as close to the one they came from as possible.
