Got a spare few million? Australia’s first 6-star retirement village opens its doors

0

Even Australia’s wealthiest retirees recognise the future security that retirement villages offer. Set in Sydney’s exclusive Eastern Suburbs, the 6-star Mark Moran Vaucluse opened last week.

The apartments range from $850,000 up to $4 million and are the work of Mark Moran and his wife Evette. They are billing the retirement and aged care development as a “wellness and lifestyle precinct.”

So what will your investment buy you?

Resort-style living

The village has 176 retirement and aged care units plus 14 dementia units. In line with the Group’s ‘Live Younger Longer’ philosophy, the luxurious facilities include a 1500sqm rooftop garden, a private indoor cinema, rehabilitation centre with full physiotherapy team, luxury spa, infra-red spa, 25-metre swimming pool and gym.

There’s also a restaurant serving up 100 per cent gluten-free meals – with egg- and dairy-free options – under hatted Chef Perry Hill, plus a gourmet providore and a fully-licenced bar.

Sadly, the liquor license for the site had to be scaled down from 400 people to 250 because of community concerns, so you can’t order a drink through room service – but there is a bottle shop in the village.

Still keen to live in the lap of luxury? The huge penthouse, with its expansive views of Sydney Harbour, is still for sale too – price undisclosed.
