Mourners at a funeral in the eastern city of Rostock has gone to a restaurant for the traditional coffee and cake after the burial.

But the employee in charge of the cakes had asked her 18-year-old daughter to bake them.

According to the police investigation, the mother grabbed the wrong cake from the freezer which the daughter “had made for a different occasion”.

13 people were later treated for nausea and dizziness after the incident, which happened in august but wasn’t reported until now out of respect for the family.

Fortunately, no one suffered any long-term side effects and the daughter hasn’t been charged.

A wake everyone will remember then – or not.
