Victorian charity Fight Parkinson’s has released a new online portal hosting courses and information about caring for people living with Parkinson’s in aged care environments.
The Fight Parkinson’s Learning Hub is aimed at Registered Nurses and personal care assistants, as well as family carers and those wishing to learn more about the condition.
The site currently hosts two free courses: “Understanding Parkinson’s: An Introduction”, which explains Parkinson’s and its impact on those with it and those who care for them, and a “Recently Diagnosed Parkinson’s Course”, aimed at educating those who have just been diagnosed, which explains options for treating and living with the condition.
“We know that one of the best ways we can help our community is to empower them with knowledge and build their capacity to manage their condition and make informed choices,” said Emma Collin, Fight Parkinson’s CEO.
We think this is an excellent contribution, for both care professionals and family members. As well as the Learning Hub, Fight Parkinson’s also has a free help line on 1800 644 189.
