The World Thumb Wrestling Championships take place every year on the East Coast of Britain in Norfolk putting people’s thumbs to the ultimate test!
Janet Coleman took out the women’s’ titles while her son-in-law took the men’s titles in the 11th year of the tournament.
The sport is thought to have originated in the UK with player using only their thumbs in a specially built mini wooden wrestling ring.
In order to win, competitors must pin their opponents thumb down and hold it there until they’ve said “1,2,3,4 I won the Thumb War.”
The UK seems to be pretty good at coming up with unusual ‘world championships’ with bog snorkeling, Custard Pie competitions, and the World Gravy Wrestling Champs among the mix.
