In another exciting feature on Frank and Earnest, we bring you our first Explainer. This is a nifty section where we explain something fairly new which could be foreign to you.
This week we are going to explain Instagram.
You may have heard people talking about this or perhaps your grandchildren have shown you photos they’ve posted on Instagram.
What is it, you ask?
The word Instagram is actually a combination of ‘instant’ and ‘telegram’. Living up to its name, it is simply a free way to share photos with your friends so they can keep up with your life and you can keep up with theirs.
All you have to do is take a picture or a video (15 seconds long only) and then customise it with filters and tools from the Instagram site if you like.
Share your photos by phone, tablet or computer
Once you set up your account on Instagram, you’ll be able to post photos or videos onto the website. Anyone who is linked to you can see the photos or videos you post.
People usually share photos by phone but it can be done by computer or tablet as well.
Instagram only started in 2010 but it has more than 300 million users already, so you can see why there’s a lot of talk about it.
Once you’ve shared a photo or video on Instagram you can then link it to your Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr or Flickr account if you have one. If you go onto your smartphone or computer, you’ll find it’s easy to set up.
Happy snapping and sharing….
