Ever snuck into the neighbour’s pool for a dip? Now you can book it out – using the ‘Airbnb’ for pools

No joke – you can now rent out a stranger’s pool in New South Wales, Victoria or Queensland via Swimply, a new app that lets people rent out their backyard oasis by the hour.

The app lists a description of the pool including the suburb, any amenities (banana lounge anyone?) and the rules swimmers must comply with – once you’ve found the pool you want to enjoy your dip in, simply put in a request to confirm your booking.

Pool owners have the final say on the availability, price, pool rules and whether or not to accept a request (we’re guessing Corey Worthington won’t be getting a look in).

To ensure people’s safety, Swimply is also partnering with pool and spa maintenance company Poolwerx to make sure all pools listed on the site comply with Australian health and safety standards.

The US-based app is the brainchild of 22-year-old Bunim Laskin after he arranged to rent his neighbour’s pool in Los Angeles by paying for 25% of the pool’s upkeep – and now Aussies can get in on the action.

While there are only a small number of local listings currently on the site, we can definitely see a market for those looking to cool down this summer.

Just don’t expect me to share my beer too.
