Australia’s oldest person just got a bit older!
Dexter Kruger, who was born on January 13, 1910, has now celebrated more birthdays than any living Australians, marking the milestone with a party in his aged care home in Roma, in south-west Queensland.
While COVID-19 restricted visitor numbers, Kruger says they still had a good time.
The now-retired farmer has lived through plenty – two World Wars, the Great Depression, droughts, fires – and witnessed countless changes along the way.
So, what’s the secret to a long and happy life?
“Keep breathing,” Dexter told the ABC.
“Have three meals a day and the time goes on. I sing and whistle, and I have half a dozen prawns every day.”
Sounds a recipe for long life to us – happy birthday Dexter!
